The B team squad from Brentford FC, a club from London currently playing in the Premier League, headed out to Portugal for their first appearance in the Atlantic Cup 2022, held in the Algarve.
Three matches were scheduled for this group, made up of first-team players, reserve players and newcomers, between the 2nd and 11th of February.
Their opponents were (in chronological order):
- Breiðablik UBK (Icelandic side) — They finished second in their league table in 2021, just one point behind the winners.
- Brøndby IF (Danish side) — They are the champions of Danish Superliga 2020/21 and it’s their fifth appearance at the Atlantic Cup.
- Halmstads BK (Swedish side) — They were relegated from the top tier of Swedish football in 2021, a competition they have won several times.
The Brentford's first two matches took place at the Estádio Algarve, in Faro, and they rounded off their Atlantic Cup campaign at the Estádio Municipal de Albufeira, in Albufeira.
Both venues were only 16 km away from their training camp, Browns Sports Resort, in Vilamoura, where they had 2 daily training sessions on the natural grass pitch as also sessions at the High Performance Gym, Recovery sessions and match analysis.
